I have been told my services are not required on Good Morning this week and that Craig Revel Horwood will take my place.
   Ironical, since last week’s episode netted me more fan mail than usual.
   Or is that the problem?
   The promos have introduced the male panel tomorrow as though it were business as usual.
   So, is the image of a Chinese guy with an opinion too much for New Zealand TV to handle?
   Dudes, I don’t do the ching-chong man accent.
   Say, how did they get rid of Judy Bailey again?

Wow. I really hope that any reason they offer isn't insidious. You'd think that by now we wouldn't still be pulling this kind of crap. :(

Who knows? I think the onus is on them to explain. I am way further down the pecking order than Judy Bailey or Charlotte Glennie, and they were treated like crap.

I suspect they have to thrust Craig Revel Horwood onto our screens at every practical moment to make him earn his keep (kind of like how we have to see April Ieremia on every reality show...although that comes across as quiet desperation to earn her own keep). I'm glad I didn't stay in to watch you this morning then!

Maybe so. Don’t get me wrong—I like the guy—but I would have appreciated a reason in the TVNZ email. Let us say my notions of leadership differ from theirs.

I haven't seen your segment on TVNZ so I can't really comment. In Oz, I have yet to see more Asian faces on our TV screens beyond programs on our dedicated multicultural broadcaster, SBS. Oh, I forget... we do have a small handful of Asian faces on the ABC... on Play School!

Sounds familiar, Ninja. These are examples of the “Asians don’t like the limelight” bollocks that the Caucasian majority invents, and actively creates situations to suit itself. We even have an Asian (Fijian Indian) Governor-General and this continues.
Last week, I did make some comment about how Brendon Pongia (the Maori host) and I would have had to confront racism. Now, Kiwis don’t like being reminded of that. After all, we have a Labour government and we all hold hands on the hilltop with a rainbow behind us, singing racial harmony.
Well, if I am not back on next week, this becomes a big deal.

I will be watching with interest. Discomfort for others is usually the start of change... it's got to happen. You're in the driver's seat, Jack.

We’ll see what happens. One blogger already thinks I am comparing myself to Judy—guess my humour does go over the heads of most New Zealanders—and made some other odd comments which are pretty far off the mark. But there is that serious side of my blog post, which is the way the matter has been handled.
If minor things are dealt with this way, then we can safely conclude that it is symptomatic of the entire organization.
You are right, Ninja. Plus, I own my own publications, so this is not something I can’t handle.
